INSULIN PUMP

Project Summary

The INSULIN PUMP is a miniaturized mechanical system that uses accurate sensing, precise delivery, and inherent safeguards against hypoglycemia to control blood glucose levels. The goal of this project is to solve the problems faced by T1DM patients in accessing affordable and accurate insulin delivery systems. The project strives to achieve accuracy and precision comparable to commercial pumps by using commercially available hardware. The product is in the prototype stage, and we plan to manufacture it locally by collaborating with the government health office. Most people in low-resource settings can not afford insulin pumps, which cost between USD 4,500 to 8,000, plus the additional expenses of infusion sets, reservoirs/cartridges, and batteries that needed for their operation. By developing a low-cost solution, this business venture aims to improve the quality of life for T1DM patients, especially those in low-income communities."
